A Diet of Worms Published by Faine Contemporary Art 2020
This print should not be regarded as a criticism of the conservative party but rather as a comment on the present cabinet and its refusal to be interviewed by ITV, Channel 4, SKY and any one else who might examine them too closely. Indeed, had Jeremy Corbin won the election and instructed his cabinet to behave in a similar manner to that of the incubant government, I would have created a comparable image. Irrespective of which ever political party is in power, when an entire cabinet misuses the excuse of Cabinet Collective Responsibility and either by consent or coercion accepts it is right to refuse to be cross examined by that section of the media who represent collectively a majority of the population, then Democracy itself may be at risk. Indeed, is it not the case that any government that will take every opportunity to avoid being interviewed or cross examined by the most able and critical pundits, would seem to lack conviction, confidence, and courage in the quality of its decision making? When this situation is exacerbated by the power and influence of nonelected advisors, who feel their position or status places them outside the rules or mores of the rest of the population, we might ask ourselves if we are being represented by a manipulative or manipulated government.
