'Within the Rules' Published by Faine Contemporary Art in 2010. (reworked 2014) Reworked as a mono-print 2020
They're still at it! One of the reasons why our politicians do nothing about the bankers, is because they are both infected with the same viruses of arrogance and greed. ‘Within the Rules’ is still the constant bleat of politicians as their money grabbing behaviour is exposed in the press. The print contains an A to Z of alliterative phrases that reflect the attitudes and practices of the ’Great and the Good’ while the main over-print text contains their whined explanation that “We didn’t do anything wrong”. The background colours of the currency symbols are those of the three main parties while the form (reminiscent of thirties tickertape) represents the further disintegration of our democracy by politicians who’s sometimes naïve, or more often criminal activities destroy our faith in our leaders. Within the Rules is a signed limited edition comprising 5 digital prints on canvas each finished with a hand painted protection varnish. |
