That's All Folks Published by Faine Contemporary Art 2017
I have always found the colours and brightness of cartoons exciting ever since the early 1950's when I was taken as a child to the News Theatre where cinema goers were treated to an hour long programe that included a newsreel broadcast, an excerpt from a B movie Western or a comedy short, a travel documentary and at least three cartoons, usually Sylvester and Tweety Pie, Bugs Bunny and Donald Duck. The 1960's witnessed an increase in the number of childrens television programs, once the account executives realised the potential profit for the realatively low cost of production and commercial television developed a financial gravy train driven by advertsing revenues. This print is an homage to Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Peanuts, Fritz the Cat, South Park, early Walt Disney and Warner Brothers films. The text is compriseed of a series of concentric circles that spell the names of the main cartoon characters and the circles that border each image is printed with black diamond dust. |
