Still life but not as we know it Published by Faine Contemporary Art 2019 Mono-print in 5 colour ways
My interest in still life painting began on the foundation course where we were taught by Derek Schiel an inspirational lecturer who instilled in his students a passion for all aspects of fine art. He taught us how to create luminosity in painting by combining transparent, translucent and opaque colours to create three dimensional illusions on two dimensional surfaces. The jig-saw format of this print is a metaphore for the sometimes puzzling simplification of the elements of analytical and synthetic cubism added to to a digitally executed college. The text is an alphabet of the names of some of the artists. |
