Vanity, vanity, vanity Published by Coriander Studio 2004
Vanity, vanity, vanity, was the first print I made using computer generated imagery and text. The title referrers to the petty vanities within us all, while the text is a prose poem using adjectives that sum them up. The introduction of text in my work was motivated by a discussion about alphabets with Peter Blake, who used the alphabet as a graphic devise, and my desire to express in my work critical ideas about society and us. This print was the first print I ever showed at a Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Vanity, vanity, vanity, is a signed limited edition comprising 50 digital prints each finished with a silk-screen printed satin protection varnish, and an Ultra Violet glaze on the abstract elements. It is a first generation original print, which only exists in this form. |
