Love Hearts Published by CCA Galleries 2010
In Love Hearts Faine uses visual and textual wit to encapsulate the theme 'mending broken hearts'. At the base of his composition a heart shape is created by a group of the popular sweets Love Hearts. The sweets became famous for the phrases that are printed on them, in this case they include 'text me', 'kiss me', 'yes dear', 'sweet heart', 'little kiss' etc. Each of the Love Hearts is broken. Overlaying the Love Hearts is a field of text that upon careful examination can be broken up into words that relate to heart health such as 'hypertension', 'cholesterol', 'infarction' etc. It is only finally that we notice that the one little Love Heart at the center of the composition is unbroken, and that it contains the legend 'True Love'. Created especially to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation. All profits go to the BHF. Clare Clinton 2010. Love Hearts is a 18 colour screen print comprising an edition of 150 copies and 15 artists proofs Proofed and printed at Coriander Studio London, and printed on 410 gsm Somerset Tub sized paper. |
